Jesus said that he came so that we can have life to the full.
He didn't come so that we wait around being very careful that we don't do the wrong thing until we either die or he returns. No, on the contrary, we are to live our lives to the full. There's plenty of parables and other teachings from Jesus on this subject, and indeed the Lord's Prayer includes God's kingdom being realised here on Earth, but I love the way it's portrayed by this local Brisbane band, Ball Park Music.

I like the sentiment. My vibe is that lots of Christians define themselves by what they DON'T Do, rather than by what they DO do. Surely God is going to to be more interested in what we did in terms of living lives of love, mercy, laughter, justice etc than by a list of things we avoided. I have a feeling that when we live out this of constructive things, we become less attracted to the list of destructive things that we seek to avoid. Darkness is driven out by turning on a light...
